PLEASE ALLOW 3 TO 5 BUSINESS DAYS FOR YOUR ORDER TO BE SHIPPED!! The Mourning After is a new literary anthology on miscarriage and infant loss within the black community. Black women are two times more likely to lose children than their white counterparts. Also, black women are more likely to experience implicit bias and racism from their health care provider, which makes them 243% more likely to die from preventable pregnancy complications.

The authors recognized that there is little to no literature on the subject matter. Although infant loss has disproportionately affected black women, the presence of black storytellers in reference to this subject matter is minimal. So they decided to change that and add a resource for the community. Their goal was to produce a literary collection of writings by black women for black women and men who have suffered maternal and/or infant loss. However, they quickly recognized that there was a need to educate providers on the handling of black women and infants in the healthcare space.

This published work is one of a kind. It houses the intimate stories of mothers in loss and also policy analyst, birth workers, medical professionals and advocates alike.
